DAVID JAMES AND HIS FATHER JONATHAN JAMES
CHARLOTTE BRADFIELD JAMES
CHARLOTTE’S PARENTS - JAMES AND RUTH WHEELER BRADFIELD

David was my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather. He was born March 5, 1777 in Loudoun County, Virginia to Jonathan James.
I don’t know who his mother was.

David married Charlotte Bradfield on September 20,1804 in the German Reformed Church Frederick in Frederick County Virginia. After their marriage, they settled near his old home (in Loudoun County) and resided on a farm at that place until 1835. That year, they came to Delaware County, Ohio, now Morrow County, and located on a farm where they spent the residue of their lives, he being eighty-three years of age at the time of death.

He was a Methodist and a devoted Christian and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him.

In politics he was in early life identified with the Whigs and later gave his support to the Republican Party.

David and Charlotte were the parents of ten children, five sons and five daughters, namely: Vashti, wife of S. T. Cunard; Olive, wife of Isaac Nichols; Mrs. Mary B. Nichols, wife of Washington Nichols; Mrs. Elmira Wood, wife of Richard Wood; Mrs. Elizabeth Banker, wife of William Banker; Elwood Bradfield, married to Elizabeth Ann Richardson; Ludwell Wheeler, married to Martha Ann Joy; Thornton L. married to Jane Russell; Marion; and Benton.

David died May 24, 1858.

JONATHAN JAMES

Jonathan James was my Great-Great-Great-Great-Grandfather. He was born and passed his life in Loudoun County, Virginia, dying there at the age of sixty-five years. I have no information on a wife. I believe he had another son, Daniel.

CHARLOTTE BRADFIELD JAMES

Charlotte was my Great-Great-Great-Grandmother. She was born March 19, 1784, in Maryland, to James and Ruth Wheeler Bradfield. She was reared in the Quaker Church but in later life was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

Charlotte passed away on September 19, 1869. She was 86 years old.

JAMES AND RUTH WHEELER BRADFIELD

James and Ruth would have been my great-great-great-great-grandparents. James and Ruth were married January 24, 1783 in Maryland. They were both Quakers. James died in Loudoun County, Virginia, at the age of sixty-eight years. Besides Charlotte, they had four other children. Amy, Mary, William and James, Jr.
